There's nothing quite as comforting on a cold Winter's evening than sitting in front of a roaring fire sipping a hot toddy. And Bourbon and honey are the best partners in crime for this.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp of Haughton Honey
- 1 cup of hot water
- 6 tbsp of Bourbon (or apple Bourbon)
- 2 x 3" strips of lemon peel
- 2 cinnamon sticks
Instructions
- Stir the honey and hot water together until the honey dissolves. Add the Bourbon (or better yet, Apple Bourbon, in which case you'll only use 1 tbsp of honey). Divide between 2 Toddy glasses. Twist a strip of lemon peel over each drink, then add to the glass. Stir each with a cinnamon stick leaving it in to infuse and then serve.
- To make Apple Bourbon, combine a 750-ml bottle of bourbon, 4 cored, sliced Fuji apples, and 4 cinnamon sticks in a pitcher. Cover; chill for 3 days. Strain and sip of use in recipe above.
Notes for the cook: if you have a fan-assisted oven then reduce the specified temperature in the recipe by about 15% ~ 1 teaspoon = 5ml and 1 tablespoon = 15ml ~ some ingredients are measured in cups and some equivalents are; 150g, 6oz (1/2 cup) = 120ml, 4fl oz
